The game is an amazing trip down memory lane, with great card art and simple mechanics that are easy to enjoy. It’s fun to collect and battle, but there’s room for improvement. The rewards system needs balancing, as progress slows significantly over time. Adding more variety to gameplay modes or reducing wait times for earning packs would make it even better. Despite these issues, it’s still a solid and nostalgic experience that keeps me coming back.
The gameplay itself is fun, opening packs is enjoyable, and the cards we currently have are nice. The battle system is enjoyable as well, it's simplistic enough to not have a huge learning curve, but you can still use some amount of strategy to win. The biggest problem this game has is how many packs you are able to open, even with premium you only get one extra pack a day for $10 a month which is crazy expensive for the very limited benefits it gives.
This is a solid game and great for someone wanting to experience opening packs and playing the tcg game. I love the simplified battling. It is much easier for new players to understand than the physical card game. However, I find that over time, it gets pretty boring. I most only log in to open my daily packs as there is not much else to do in the game. They need to add some sort of reward system for battling as only getting 15xp for winning is not enough to keep me playing.
The game is fun. It takes that itch of opening packs and not have to use real money. The battle system is simple and fun. The cards are great. HOWEVER, I wish they gave us more hourglasses to pull cards. The subscription for 10$ a month is not really fair just to open 1 free pack. Even with the additional things it gives you. I rather have a subscription for hourglasses to get more pokemon. Other than that it's a great way to pass time.
Collecting the cards is fun, but in the battle mode when a lot of the cards you have are left to a coin flip, it is absolutely possible to get absolutely destroyed. I just watched as the only heads I got was to go first, and I flipped about 10 tails in a row. I wish they would fix the battle system to be a bit more fair in that regard. If it was my skill, it would be one thing, but it's always down to the flips.
It's a collector game. The battle portion isn't meant to be taken seriously. In coding, the coin flip is already predetermined before you even swipe, so the animation is pointless since it's not an actual "coin flip." I'd rank this higher if there wasn't a system in the game that completely rigs "chance" outcomes. Thankfully, there's no "ranked" versus. To many folks try to be sweaty and get their 5 seconds of fame.
The game continues to crash. It even freezes on occasion. It started few weeks ago, and I was hoping for a fix. The game can become stale after a while. The matches get boring in the versus aspect of the game because so many of the decks are the same. The matches themselves are poorly designed. Going first in a match may lead to defeat because the player doesn't get energy. There must be a way to make the first player not to have such a disadvantage.
At first, the app would run smoothly with no issue. I've never played against actual people, so idk how it is. But as of writing this reveiw, the game barely runs for 5 seconds before crashing. I tried several times to open it, thinking it was just a one-time thing, but it happened every time and never even let me open a card pack or do anything. Until this is fixed, I'm uninstalling the game and keeping this review a 1 star.
A really fun game. Love collecting cards and the battles are quick and pretty fun. The worst part is the how you can't attach energy if you go first. That's not in line with the real game. It also provides a major disadvantage by putting you way behind when it's first to 3 points. It is so problematic it almost ruins the rest of the fun.
The main appeal of these games is to open packs, and the game is so poorly made that you can't even do that. I have to quit out of the game every time I want to open a pack and then go look at the cards later. There's no excitement or hype in that, it's boring and lame. Also the battling is incredibly lucky based, not much strategy to implement when its 20 cards, most victories are decided by who goes second and gets the energy first. Please fix graphics issues and rebalance the coin flip.
This game is great for collecting cards with some cool artwork, but very little variety. Solo battle difficulty is fabricated by coding the computer's deck & draws to be objectively better more often as difficulty increases, so whether or not you try to play "correctly" by using type advantages, you're going to lose the majority of the time at expert because it is literally coded this way. Pro-tip: you can tell if you're going to lose within 5 turns, so just quit and restart if you see it early.
Too much. For what this "game" is, I have to do too much just to open a pack. Select pack, select pack again, drag across the thin line (usually takes at least two attempts because I go too fast) tap for each card, and tap the pile one more time to put them in the dex, and wait for the animation all throughout. For EVERY PACK. And the fanfare, stop with the fanfare. It's nothing special. Just go faster.
App looks amazing, simplified gameplay is fun and quick, great way to get new players into an old game. Binders & flare are a great idea!! Opening packs is exciting and fun but could use a better pity system IMO! Some UI could be streamlined, I would love to see more events and missions all around, a non-live way to play against people (think words with friends), a FFW button for auto-play in solo mode, ranked/tournaments, and of course trading though I know that is on its way. Overall very fun!
I love the features and aspects but it is WAY too buggy. My screen flashes, pokemon cards turn full black, and my screen just does not show up. Also the "High performance" mode is not High Performance it takes just as long to load and ruins the quality of the cards. I think it makes it a bit longer to load and it sometimes doesn't even load.
I really want to give 5 stars, the game feels good, the card collecting is addicting, and the battles, for the most part, are fun. my only real gripe is the beginner random match. There are clearly people who are not beginners running optimized decks and when I just want a chill battle with some fun decks that aren't optimized, I run into some EX try-hard who doesn't seem to get beginners. if there was a way to fix this, I think it would be much better.
Good overall, but the option to concede is abused to the point where battle isn't even fun. I get it if you can obviously see that the match is going to be over after the next turn, but of the last 10 battles I've done, on about half of them the opponent conceded within the first two turns. It kind of seems like people don't really want to play, they just want to win quickly and if the initial setup doesn't look like it is going to guarantee a super fast victory they just concede and move on.
It's a good game. Though on a device I use it on it has become unable to even run. I have been playing it there with glitching issues and slow game response. However now it won't let me go past the title screen without freezing. If I want to continue playing the game I am forced to put it on a device that I reserve for business. These devices are only six months apart from the time I bought them. Though it's like night and day. However if I struggle to open it on my phone I will stop
I love the game, but there is no way the coin flips are 50/50. It feels exponentially rigged against cpu opponents, and I've gotten Tails on coin flips about 70% of the time. It feels like the computer must be cheating because every single match is perfect for them. I like a challenge, but it ends up a steam roll. and there is a clear meta that ruins online play. Add more cards. Please. For the types that are lacking any real play. And fix the coin flip odds.
I can see how the collecting aspect and familiar characters could get players hooked, but ultimately, this is an unbalanced cash grab. All PvP is based around only a few cards that actually matter, so you need enough luck to pull them from packs or deep enough pockets to buy them. Also, going first puts you at such a disadvantage that a mistake from the opponent is basically necessary to win. Hopefully, this will improve as the game expands, but right now, it's more frustrating than it is fun.
Game is good. But the major flaw in the game is if you are going first you are already at a disadvantage. I can understand not attacking first turn, but no energy, no evolution is horrible. Your opponent is able to use energy going second which puts them ahead and increases their chance of winning the game significantly. I see 0 reason for each player to establish a board for nothing to even be able to happen for the player going first, it is a horrible set up at the start of the game
